Early and Late

2015
Five channel video and audio installation, Gallery CC, Malmö

The work consists of five synchronised video projections, each with its own soundtrack.
Each video shows ordinary events, that in one way or another produce a
rhythm. A person skipping, a machine printing, snowballs hitting a wall, etc.

Each rhythm has its natural pace, but in the editing their speed is manipulated to
make them all beat simultaneously. Together they produce a common, continuous
rhythm filling the four exhibition rooms on two floors with a beat composed of
different kinds of sounds.

At irregular intervals the image and sound are changed in one of the projections.
This obviously affects the overall sound, but the rhythm always remains the same.

The recordings are loosely arranged to fit the different rooms they are presented
in; recreation in the front room, food making and card playing in the tiled back
room, and machines in the black cellar room.
